Pārmērīga situācijas skaidrojuma vienkāršošana vai nepilnīga informācija (piemēram, nepaziņojot, kura melanomas stadija noteikta) neļauj pacientam meklēt papildu informāciju par savu ārstēšanu. Pacientiem domātai medicīniskajai informācijai ir jārada iespēja pašizglītoties. Tas palielina pacientu spējas izdarīt informētu izvēli.

Pagaidām latviešu valodā nav daudz uzticamu informācijas avotu, ko mēs varētu droši ieteikt melanomas pacientiem. Mēs pie tā strādājam. Bet ir gana daudz informācijas angļu valodā.
